Services provided by Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center

 

Beliefs:

  • Services should be provided in the least restrictive environment, as close to home as possible and as appropriate for the disorder and level of functioning.

 

Outpatient Services

Outpatient services are designed to assist the client with problems when hospitalization is not required. Clients receive outpatient services at all seventeen clinical offices to help the client better understand and cope with personal, family or vocational difficulties.  This service, by far, the largest of the Center, may be delivered to individuals, families, groups, children or adults, and may include marriage counseling, individual or group therapy, training in community living, occupational therapy, supportive therapy and recreation.

 

Medication Management

Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center believes that appropriate medication can help people with a mental illness, recover and maintain their recovery.   The Center employs Advance Practice Nurses with prescription privileges to prescribe and help manage therapeutic medications.  Psychiatrists prescribe medications during telemedicine conferences and are oftentimes followed by the advance practice nurses

 

 

 

Transitional Care

Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center operates an 11 bed transitional care facility - Clark Street Inn - located in Miles City. This facility is designed to provide 24 hour group living for clients who are unable to immediately return to independent living after they have experienced psychiatric illness. During their stay at Clark Street Inn, clients are involved in several facets of the Center's treatment program, to aid the person in returning to independent living.

 

Intensive Case Management

Intensive case management is a supportive community-based service which seeks to maximize an individual's personal abilities and enable growth in some or all aspects of a person's vocational, residential, social and health related environments. Priority is placed on providing personal support and guidance in helping the person acquire and use comprehensive resources in his or her natural community.

 

Community Living Support Services

Community Living Support Services are activities, other than direct therapy, which aids clients in obtaining their treatment goals. Examples of these services are recreational and social events, assisting a client in obtaining necessary services to meet her/his basic needs and case management services.

 

 

Community Rehab and Support Services

CRSS is provided to the client who requires more services than can be provided on an outpatient basis, but less than full hospitalization. Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center operates three day CRSS programs located in Sydney, Glendive and Miles City. Clients in this program are involved in a wide range of therapeutic serviced including socialization activities, group therapy, training in community living, occupational therapy, supportive therapy and recreation. This service is especially useful to the client who is returning to the community after inpatient hospitalization.

 

Substance Abuse and Dependency Services

SADS provides substance abuse treatment services in eight of the counties covered by EMCMHC. The services include an intensive outpatient programs, evaluation/assessment/referral, crisis intervention, prevention/education, ACT/DUI and Minors in Possession classes. Services are provided by qualified, state-certified substance abuse counselors.

 

 

Emergency Services

Emergency services are available to provide emergency intervention for individuals or families experiencing a crisis situation or a severe emotional disturbance. Emergency services are delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are available after office hours and on weekends by contacting the crisis line in Miles City, Glendive or Glasgow and by calling the Mental Health Center office in the satellite locations. The crisis line is staffed by Mental Health Center clinical staff, who may handle the emergencies by telephone or personal contact.

 

Telemedicine Network

Telemedicine is s system of health care delivery in which mental health professionals examine patients at a distant location through the use of telecommunications technology. Telemedicine helps people in rural communities with limited health care facilities to have easy access to highly trained mental health professionals.  The Eastern Montana Telemedicine Network is also being used extensively for all categories of education. This insures that Eastern Montana has the same access to educational programs and courses as urban areas. Group chemical dependency treatment is provided over the Telemedicine Network. The Telemedicine Network is presently serving Miles City, Glendive, Sidney, Culbertson, Plentywood, Malta, Colstrip, Baker and Glasgow and Scobey.

 

 

Consultation and Educational Services

The consultation and educational  services  provided by Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center are designed to provide public information about the Center and its services, to promote good mental health through public education and to provide consultation to other     care-givers.
